Cookie Policy — Einbürgerungstest & DTZ

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar storage technologies Einbürgerungstest & DTZ uses, why we use them, and what choices you have. It is a supplement to our Privacy Policy.

What is a cookie?

A "cookie" is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. Modern browsers and mobile apps also use related storage mechanisms like localStorage, sessionStorage, and IndexedDB. We refer to all of these collectively as "cookies" in this policy.

What we use

Einbürgerungstest & DTZ uses the minimum storage required to function. We do not use third-party advertising or marketing cookies. We do not have a cookie banner because we do not set non-essential cookies without your explicit consent.

These cookies are essential to deliver the features you actively use. Without them the app cannot remember your progress, your Bundesland, or your language between sessions.

Functional (active if you opt in)

Cloud backup / sync (optional, off by default): if you enable it, a sync_email / sync_ts marker is stored so your progress can be backed up and restored on another device.

Analytics / Marketing

None from third parties. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, advertising trackers, or any third-party analytics. Our own anonymous, cookieless usage counters do not use tracking cookies and cannot identify you.

Optional crash reporting (if enabled)

If you opt in to anonymous crash reporting (Settings → Privacy):

Cookies set by payment processors

When you make a purchase you interact with the Apple App Store (iOS, via RevenueCat) or, on the web, Stripe Checkout. Those services set their own cookies governed by their own policies:

We do not control those cookies. They are not set in our app directly.

Cookies set by Anthropic (AI grading)

When you submit a DTZ writing/speaking answer for AI grading, the request goes to Anthropic's Claude API. Anthropic may set transient cookies during the API request. We have no control over those.

Your choices

Clear all our cookies: open the app and go to Settings → Reset profile, OR clear your browser's data for our domain, OR delete the mobile app.
Disable cookies entirely: configure your browser. The app will not function correctly without localStorage.
Withdraw cloud-backup / crash-reporting consent (if opted in): Settings → Privacy.

Updates

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent change.
